WELCOME to our branch of AAUW!

American Association of University Women advances gender equity for women and girls through research, education, and advocacy.

Diversity Statement: In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks an inclusive membership, workforce, leadership team and board of directors. Our meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Our branch does not hold meetings during the summer months. Unless otherwise noted, meetings begin at 7:00 p.m., either on ZOOM or in person in Wytheille at a TBD location.

Tree Decorating at the Wythe County Public Library in December 2022

Library Tree Decorating and Gift Cards. Each year our branch decorates a tree at the Wythe County Library. Each member can donate a $10.00 Walmart card for the Family Resource Center. This is a great way to share the spirit of Christmas season with our Community.

Voting Registration for our Community

We have been participating in voter registration for over 10 years at various locations in town. Also, we send out postcards reminding voters to register and VOTE!

Scholarship Recipient

Click here for more information about our scholarship fund. Pictured with Janie Hardin, is a recent scholarship recipient Ashlyn Lehmkuhl  who is planning  to attend Old Dominion University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.

STEM Event

Since 2014, our branch has conducted a STEM Event for Middle School Girls in Wythe/Bland County. The school systems support our initiative and Wytheville Community College offers us space and materials for the program. Four STEM workshops are presented each year e.g. Engineering, Veterinary Science etc. Girls are encouraged to Dream Big and look to STEM career.

The Wytheville  branch of the AAUW is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. Our members  are  diverse, educated, creative, conscientious, and often adventurous group that includes several generations of teachers, executives, writers, and community leaders (to name a few). We invite you to join us in our pursuits to fulfill AAUW’s mission of promoting equity for all women and girls, through advocacy, education,  philanthropy, and research.
