A Night for Math and Pi (or pie to be exact)

On Tuesday, May 15, the AAUW welcomed author and educator Laura Laing as our guest speaker. Ms. Laing is author of Math for Grown-ups.  In her charismatic presentation (and also in her book), she is an advocate for a kinder-gentler math, one in which fear and loathing is dissolved.

Not only did she discuss her book and thoughts with the group, but she also contributed homemade pies (in honor of Pi) to our intermission between presentation and meeting. Many thanks, Laura!

Laura signs books for Peggy White and Margie Peel.

Also of note, thanks goes to Ann Laing for also working on the pies, Suzanne Nicklas for providing the savories, and Murray Ziegenfuss for the choice beverages!
